The unintended expat blogger behind Silver Mood Atlas

Hello, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the master plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday chores seemed more intricate than they ought to.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, doubts, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, habits took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Silver Mood Atlas
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever real changes occur
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a paid-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, along with the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
